MOSASAURE PROGNATHODON ANCEPS
“Mosasaurus, also known as the Maas lizard, is a group of extinct marine reptiles. These creatures lived in the sea and are often mistaken for dinosaurs. One of the fascinating aspects of the Mosasaurus is its discovery in the Netherlands. It was found in the Sint Pietersberg, Limburg. Despite this, the Mosasaurus is not named after the mountain. Instead, it is named after the river Meuse, which flows at the foot of the mountain. The river’s Latin name is “Mosa.”
The Mosasaurus lived during the Maastrichtian, the last part of the Cretaceous period. This era spanned from about 71.3 to 65.4 million years ago. Interestingly, the name “Maastrichtian” resembles the city name Maastricht. This is because the period is named after the city due to significant fossil.
